The Father (certificate 12A)

Having just scared off his recent caregiver, Anthony, (Anthony Hopkins) an ailing, octogenarian Londoner gradually succumbing to dementia, feels abandoned when concerned Anne (Olivia Colman), his daughter, tells him she's moving to Paris.
Confused and upset, against the backdrop of a warped perspective and his rapid, heart-rending mental decline, Anthony is starting to lose his grip on reality, struggling to navigate the opaque landscape of present and past.
Now, as faded memories and glimpses of lucidity trigger sudden mood swings, dear ones, Anthony's surroundings, and even time itself become distorted.
Why has his younger daughter stopped visiting?
Who are the strangers that burst in on Anthony?

Dickens by Candlelight

Dickens by Candlelight - Digby Memorial Church Hall, Sherborne.

Starring Barry North as the ‘Spirit’ of Dickens - in a stunning solo performance full of humour, drama, and voices from the past.

Barry will portray some of Dickens’ most famous characters from Oliver Twist, The Pickwick Papers, and the all-time seasonal favourite, ‘A Christmas Carol’. He will also reveal something of the life of the man himself, regarded by many as the greatest novelist of the Victorian Age.

Expect to hear Mr Bumble roar, Fagin squawk and Aunt Betsy Trotwood shriek, plus a host of other much-loved characters and rascals who are famous the world over.

With a unique insight into these caricatures through his many own stage performances, Barry will deliver a highly entertaining 'Dickens of an Evening' which will be 'Beyond Expectations'. Admission: £17.50 Concession £15.00

Limbo (certificate 12A)

Omar is a promising young musician.
Separated from his Syrian family, he is stuck on a remote Scottish island awaiting the fate of his asylum request.
Limbo is a wry and poignant observation of the refugee experience, set on a fictional remote Scottish island where a group of new arrivals await the results of their asylum claims.
It centers on Omar (Amir El-Masry), a young Syrian musician who is burdened by his grandfather's oud, the king of Arabic music instruments, which he has carried all the way from his homeland.

Traditionally held on the last Bank Holiday Monday in May, for 2022 only the Fair is moving "back" a day to the Sunday, 29th May.  This is because the Bank Holiday is moving to Thursday 2nd and Friday 3rd June in order to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.
